Salvage Tug Check Ride Week
The Salvage Tug Operations cohort completes its final assessments over four days on the Lumen Orbital Range near L5 Lagrange Station. Each candidate must capture a tumbling retired hull, de-spin it and tow it to a disposal orbit before releasing it cleanly.
Instructor Callum McBride will host observers aboard a range support ship with live camera feeds from each Basilisk. Chief Examiner Thabo Sithole will brief visitors on how tether loads, approach discipline and crew communication are scored.
Salvage operators recruiting crews are encouraged to attend. Observer places are limited to 20 per day.
Each day begins with a range briefing on target tumble rates and ends with a public debrief where the examiner summarises the day's outcomes without naming individual candidates. Observers must complete a short safety induction before boarding the range support ship.
