Vanguard Cartographic Society

Founded 2096 Website

The Vanguard Cartographic Society maps the moons of Uranus and Neptune with Valkyrie Survey Corvettes and Odyssey Deep Explorers. Founded in North America in 2096, it is one of the oldest scientific users of Halcyon ships.

The society sponsors five seats each year on the Survey Corvette Rating and three on Deep Explorer Command. Sponsored survey pilots join its mapping teams at Miranda and Triton, while command graduates lead its multi-year expeditions.

Élodie Marchand, our training commander, flew two expeditions for Vanguard before joining the academy.

Vanguard data from the ice giants is used in our deep-space navigation modules.

The society favours candidates with an interest in science as well as flying, and its sponsored survey pilots receive a short course in mapping instruments before joining an expedition. Its Valkyrie crews have charted most of Miranda's surface and large parts of Triton, and graduates of our Survey Corvette Rating now make up more than half of its flight crew. Command sponsorships are awarded only to pilots with at least one completed ice-giant voyage.
