Jovian Helium Cooperative

Founded 2147 Website

The Jovian Helium Cooperative harvests hydrogen and helium-3 from Jupiter's upper atmosphere with a large fleet of Nimbus Gas Skimmers, supplying fusion fuel to much of the inner system. It is headquartered on Ganymede, beside our Jovian training detachment.

The cooperative sponsors eight seats each year on Gas Giant Skimming, more than a full cohort across two intakes. Sponsored pilots commit to three seasons of skimming operations and receive radiation-dose monitoring throughout their service.

Cooperative skimmers provide the real Nimbus flying hours in the course, and its senior pilots co-teach the Jovian weather modules alongside Meera Raghunathan.

The cooperative is the main reason we can offer the only civilian atmospheric skimming course in the solar system.

Sponsored pilots relocate to Ganymede for training and remain based there for their skimming seasons, with rotations to Io and Callisto support stations. The cooperative covers radiation monitoring, housing and travel, and it pays a skimming premium for every full-depth pass. Its safety record is closely tied to the training: since adopting the Lumen syllabus as its own standard in 2185, it has recorded no hull-loss incidents during atmospheric passes.
