Dario Okafor

Dario Okafor is Lumen's Chief Flight Instructor, responsible for every syllabus, every instructor standard and every check ride the academy runs. Based at the Shackleton Base training wing on Luna, he oversees around 90 instructors across seven sites.

Dario learned to fly on Earth, flew Kestrel shuttles for six years in the Earth-Luna corridor and then spent a decade as an Atlas first officer and captain. He rewrote the Shuttle Operations course in 2185 to put two-crew cooperation at its centre, and he is a familiar voice on academy webinars explaining the difference between a licence, a type rating and an endorsement.

He leads the twice-yearly syllabus review, which draws on simulator data, examiner reports and feedback from hiring partners, and he personally approves every new instructor before they teach a type rating. Dario still flies the Atlas and Kestrel several times a year to keep his ratings current.
